HOW SKIN AGES:
Skin ages through many factors: genetics, general wear and tear and
environmental stresses. Exposure to the sun is the most important factor of all in
accelerating the aging skin.
|
The Genetic Factor:
People
with fair complexions usually develop fine, superficial wrinkles at an earlier age
than those with darker complexions. Since we cannot control our genetic factors, we
should control nutrition, relaxation, exercise and skin care. What we eat affects
our skin in subtle ways. Food high in fat content do not cause acne but can make it
worse. Vitamin C deficiency can result in bruising and poor healing. Vitamin B
deficiency can cause dry thin skin. Eating fresh vegetables and fish, drinking water
and milk, cutting back on fatty foods and watching the natural intake of vitamins through
food is essential to keep skin healthy. Don't rub skin with harsh cleansers and
abrasives. Learn to sleep in a position that doesn't "iron in creases".
THE SMILE FACTOR:
Your facial expression reflects your thoughts.
Whether happy, sad, or board, your face will show it. The worst culprits are
frowning and squinting. Be sure to wear smiles, hats and sunglasses to prevent
squinting and frowning. Apply sun blocks liberally to face and body.
