The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASPS), founded in 1931, represents 97 percent of all physicians certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). Members also include physicians certified in plastic surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Society has recently changed their name to American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). This name change simplifies our organization and includes all procedures done; cosmetic as well as reconstructive.
By choosing an ASPS member plastic surgeon, patients can be assured that the physician has graduated from an accredited medical school and completed at least five years of additional residency, usually three years in general surgery and two years in plastic surgery. To be certified by ABPS, a physician must also practice plastic surgery for two years and pass comprehensive written and oral examinations.
Our physicians (Drs. Ross and Buck) are members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and members of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
(see below).

When
you entrust
your face or
body to a
plastic
surgeon, you
want to be
sure that
you are
selecting
the very
best.
That's why
you should
choose a
member of
the American
Society for
Aesthetic
Plastic
Surgery
(ASAPS).
What
is ASAPS?
ASAPS is an
organization
devoted
exclusively
to advancing
the science
and art of
cosmetic
plastic
surgery.
Its members
are a select
group of
board-certified
plastic
surgeons who
have earned
the right to
display the
distinctive
ASAPS logo,
depicting
the Egyptian
Queen
Nefertiti
and
symbolizing
the highest
achievement
in cosmetic
plastic
surgery.
What
sets ASAPS
surgeons
apart?
During their
residency
training,
plastic
surgeons
learn to
perform both
reconstructive
and cosmetic
plastic
surgery.
Those who
are members
of ASAPS
have chosen
cosmetic
surgery as
their
primary
interest.
That's
important to
your for
several
reasons:
Specialization
in cosmetic
surgery.
Only
board-certified
plastic
surgeons who
devote a
significant
portion of
their
practice to
cosmetic
surgery are
invited into
ASAPS
membership.
Ongoing
education in
the latest
techniques.
To maintain
membership
in ASAPS, a
plastic
surgeon must
regularly
participate
in
accredited
continuing
education in
cosmetic
surgery.
This ensures
that ASAPS
surgeons are
up-to-date
with the
latest in
the field-
advances
that can
directly
benefit you.
Highest
standards of
patient care
and ethical
practice.
Applicants
for
membership
must be
recommended
by an ASAPS
surgeon in
their region
who knows
their
professional
reputation.
ASAPS
members
adhere to
the highest
ethical
standards
for patient
care and
professional
conduct.
Don't'
settle for
less
When
choosing
your plastic
surgeon,
first check
for
certification
by the
American
Board of
Plastic
Surgery, the
board-certification
that
indicates
complete
training in
plastic
surgery.
Then ask if
your surgeon
is a member
of the
American
Society for
Aesthetic
Plastic
Surgery. Dr.
Ross and Dr.
Buck are
members.
Don't settle
for less
than a
board-certified
plastic
surgeon who
has earned
membership
in ASAPS,
the Mark of
Distinction
in Cosmetic
Plastic
Surgery™.
