BOTOX Cosmetic Botulinum Type A is a natural,
purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium. BOTOX
Cosmetic is injected in the brow area where hyperfunctioning muscles cause
facial lines to form--relaxing the muscles and smoothing the lines. As a
result, BOTOX Cosmetic treatment is a simple, nonsurgical procedure that relaxes
glabellar lines for up to 4 months. Patients report high rates of
appearance improvement in their glabellar lines. In a 4-month,
placebo-controlled study (N=537), nearly 90% of those treated with BOTOX
Cosmetic (N=405) reported moderate or greater improvement in brow lines 30 days
after treatment--a significant difference versus placebo (p<.001).

A few tiny BOTOX Cosmetic injections should be
placed in the corrugator and porcerus muscles. No anesthesia is needed,
but it may be helpful to numb the area with a cold pack or topical anesthetic.
The procedure takes about 10 minutes. Within days, patients see a marked
relaxation of glabellar lines. Clinical data show that the lines continue
to improve for up to a week, and improvement lasts for up to 4 months.

Any image-conscious man or woman 18 to 65 years of
age who is concerned about the appearance of their frown lines may be a
candidate for BOTOX Cosmetic treatment. BOTOX Cosmetic should not be used
if there is an infection at the injection site. Our physicians will
determine if BOTOX Cosmetic is the right treatment for you.

Any authorized health care professional can
administer BOTOX Cosmetic. As plastic surgeons we are generally more
experienced in this procedure. You can schedule a consultation with our

According to the American Society for
Aesthetic Plastic Surgery's 2000 survey, Botox Cosmetic is one of the least
expensive aesthetic procedures, ranking seventh of the nine most widely used
procedures in the United States. Like other appearance-related
investments, such as hair coloring and cuts, teeth whitening, chemical peels,
the cost must be weighed relative to your experience.

Discomfort related to the injection is
minimal, brief, and can be limited with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.
Most people return directly to work or normal activity fo0llowing BOTOX Cosmetic
treatment.

Side effects most often reported during clinical
trials of BOTOX Cosmetic included headache (13.3%), respiratory infection
(3.5%), temporary eyelid droop (blepharoptosis, 3.2%), nausea (3.0%, and flu
syndrome (2.0%).

BOTOX Cosmetic lasts up to four months.
